Online and Continuing Education (OCE) is seeking an Instructional Technologist to assist with delivery of instructional support to the college community at our McMinnville and Portland campuses. The Instructional Technologist will assist faculty in the development and/or improvement of technology skills used in traditional on-campus, hybrid, and online courses; plan, coordinate and conduct workshops on the use of new technologies; support the design and development of instructional content utilizing best practices in online delivery; and troubleshoot problems with our web-conferencing, streaming media and learning management systems (LMS). This position will be split between the Portland and McMinnville campuses (3 days/2 days).  Review of applications will begin immediately and will close on August 18, 2019.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Support and Training (including but not limited to):

  • Assist new and experienced faculty to effectively incorporate technology into their teaching;
  • Review courses during their development and upon completion to ensure quality, compliance with best practices, accessibility and copyright;
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops for faculty on educational technology topics;
  • Develop training guides, web pages and videos for use by faculty.

Technical:

  • Assist faculty with a wide range of multimedia technology, including image, audio, video, and web tools to develop materials for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses;
  • Troubleshoot problems with the college LMS, web conferencing and streaming media systems.

Professionalism:

  • Maintain the confidentiality of student and employee records;
  • Cultivate collaborative and professional working relationships with faculty and staff;
  • Develop own skills and practices by participating in professional development activities.

 

Knowledge and Experience:

Education

  • Bachelors' or Masters' degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related field.

Experience 

  • Experience with academic technology support;
  • Experience supporting faculty professional development;
  • Expertise in learning management systems (Blackboard) and video conferencing;
  • Experience using screen casting and video creation tools;
  • Ability to translate technical information/instructions into user-friendly instructions;
  • Ability to develop lesson/curricular plans;
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact with faculty, staff, and students in a variety of formal and informal settings;
  • Highly proficient in designing and conducting a wide range of professional development opportunities for faculty.

Work is performed in an office environment and is sedentary in nature.  Constant sitting, seeing, hearing, talking and repetitive hand, wrist, and finger movement.  Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and reaching.  Occasional bending, stooping and lifting up to forty pounds.
