Information Technology Services is recruiting for an End User Support Specialist II for the School of Nursing campus located in Portland.    The End User Support Specialist II Portland Campus diagnoses hardware/software issues for both Mac and PC and solves highly technical problems either over the phone, via email or in person.  Applies intermediate to high technical knowledge to independently and expediently diagnose and resolve elevated problems in a sophisticated networked computing environment. Documents problems and solutions and records all activity regarding service calls. Provides suggestions to increase work efficiency and productivity within the ITS department.  A review of applications begins immediately.  Applications will be accepted through August 22nd.

Work Schedule:

Monday Friday   8:00am 5:00pm.  Flexibility is required to accommodate occasional off scheduled work hours. 

Responsibilities:

  • Installs and maintains A/V equipment in Portland Campus classrooms. Provides instruction and support to end users.
  • Assumes responsibility for problem resolution of service calls. This includes timely recording of problem symptoms and status information.
  • Diagnose and resolve highly technical hardware and software issues on Mac and PC for faculty, staff and student labs.
  • Responsible for the creation and management of images for use in deploying end user computers and student labs
  • Coordinate the installation, testing and evaluation of upgrades and proposed new hardware/software configurations for end user computers and student labs
  • Provides advanced hardware and software training, guidance and advice to users.
  • Approves articles submitted for the IT Knowledgebase by front line support
  • Analyze problems and recommend software solutions and or purchases to promote academic and administrative efficiency.
  • Assist Data Center Manager with server and Active Directory tasks as needed.
  • Work with remote Network Administrator to facilitate network upgrades, troubleshooting and maintenance of campus network infrastructure.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of campus-wide projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including following all College policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Associates degree in computers science, or equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform the functions of the position
  • Bachelor's degree in computing or information technology preferred

Experience

  • Four years of hardware and software technical support experience.
  • Expert level knowledge and experience of software, including Microsoft and Mac OS, Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and experience grasping and learning new software applications, and/or upgrades.
  • Experience imaging and deploying of computer operating systems in an enterprise environment
  • Experience troubleshooting basic network issues
  • Experience using analytical skills to assess users' needs and translate those needs into applicable solutions.
  • Experience translating technical information/instructions into "user friendly" instructions when conducting training sessions for one-on-one sessions.
  • Experience including the use of strong customer service skills and a commitment to work with other department team members to support customers.
